Winter Lip Savers

Winter weather can have crazy consequences for under-hydrated lips.  The air somehow seems to suck all of the moisture away, leaving you with dry, cracked, sometimes painful, and definitely unattractive lips.  I don’t know about you, but I personally cannot stand the feeling of dry lips, so I’m constantly applying a lip balm of some sort.  While this is year round behavior for me, I majorly up my lip balm game in the winter months to keep my kisser in tip top shape.  Here are a few of my favorite, somewhat splurgy options I  use to keep my lips smooth, soft, and hydrated during the bitter cold.

Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatments

I could sing the praises of Fresh Beauty’s Sugar Lip Treatment products all day long, but we don’t have time for that.  Their lip products have recently become my go to for easy and efficient lip moisture.  I recently purchased the “Sugar Kiss and Tell” set from Sephora which contains 5 minis of various styles of their sugar lip treatment, including a regular, advanced, advanced in a pot, and two with color (Petal and Rose). I reach for something in this kit several times a day.  The lip treatment in the shade Petal is quickly becoming an all time favorite with it’s subtle but beautiful pink tint.  With Fresh, I know I don’t have to worry about chapped lips anymore.  They also have an amazing sugar scrub for extra lip TLC.  While I haven’t purchased that before, I have gotten a mini in a kit before, and it’s divine.  Good job, Fresh!

Rosebud Perfume Co. Lip Balm

If you hang around beauty blogs I’m sure you’ve heard of this stuff.  Rosebud Perfume Co has this amazing product called Smith’s Rosebud Salve (with several flavor variations) and it is fabulous.  The subtle hints of flavor are great, but what’s even better is this thick formula goes on your lips and slowly sinks in leaving your lips feeling amazing.  What’s even better is they’re pretty inexpensive at about $6 a tube.  I’ve also seen a few trios hiding around that only cost $15, so $5 each tube.  I keep this in my nightstand and apply it generously before bed.

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

If you really want to treat your lips extra special this winter, the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask ($26 at Sephora) will do the trick. This incredibly thick, luscious formula has a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple the amount of antioxidant trans-resveratrol found in red wine (according to Sephora’s sit) in it, and it is a serious treat.  A little bit goes a long way and my lips are hydrated for hours after application.  This is also a great before bed product.  It comes in clear, or a champagne pink or red wine tint.

Jack Black Intense Lip Therapy

Jack Black might be a men’s line, but I’d recommend this lip balm to any woman out there.  It’s packed full of skin conditioners that help heal and prevent cracked, chapped lips.  With flavors (scents?) like mint, black tea & blackberry, and grapefruit & ginger, there’s a fun flavor for everyone (or a flavorless one if that’s what you prefer).

Honey House Naturals Lip Butter

I found this lip balm while I was out shopping in Florida with my grandmother. We stumbled across it in this little boutique and the girl at the register swore by the stuff.  Let’s just say, the next time I was in Florida I went back to the shop and purchased 3 more. That’s how much I loved them! Hydrating, soothing, and wonderful flavor options (Peppermint, Mango, Vanilla Almond, Raspberry Pomegranate, and more). I don’t know what stores to find them in (except for the boutique in Florida), but these lip butters can be found on their website.

Those are just a few of my all time favorite lip moisturizers, especially for winter.  Bonus tip: make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated on the inside, as that makes a huge difference in your skin, not just in winter, but all year long. What are some of your favorite lip moisturizers?  Let me know in the comments below.
