Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths

We all know that we should never go to bed with our makeup on.  We also know that there are many days that are tough and by the end of it we just don’t want to take the time to wash our face down.  These Skyn Iceland cloths offer a water-free solution to the laziness problem.  They are infused with Icelandic glacial waters and natural extracts to wipe away the day with ease, leaving skin clean and refreshed.  Supposedly you just rub the sides together and it foams up, but I can’t seem to figure out how to make that work quite right., but it still gets a decent amount of my makeup off.  No water, no rinsing.

Full Size: 30 Cloths @ $15.00

Sample Size: 10 Cloths

Sample Value: $5.00

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream

This shea enriched hand cream leaves hands feeling hydrated and soft. The mango mandarin scent is strong, but has an energizing effect, offering a lovely pick me up at no additional charge 😉  It’s the time of year where you always need a hand cream in your bag for dry, cracked skin.

Full Size: 20 ml @ $6.56

Ecru Acacia Protein BB Cream

Acacia Collagen is a powerful ingredient that gives hair moisture and protection.  In this all-in-one BB cream, the Acacia Collagen is joined by silk amino acids, Jojoba oil, Monoi oil and hydrolyzed silk protein to offer a light and effective hydrating cream for your hair.  Run a little bit of this through damp hair before styling, or add to dry hair for some extra hydration.

Starlooks Lip Gloss

As a self-proclaimed lip product junkie, this little lip gloss was a joy to find in my Glam Bag.  This neutral rose shade (called “Guilty Pleasure”) is a perfect pink, and the color payout is more opaque than some glosses.  It’s hydrating without feeling sticky and smells amazing!

Full Size: .3 oz @ $12

Sample Size: Guessing about 0.08 oz

Hikari Lipstick

I got this lipstick in the shade “Cabernet.”  As the name suggests, it is a berry red wine shade with moderate intensity (but buildable) and a matte finish.  I’m not a huge fan of this formula, as it feels a bit dry on my lips, but with a little extra hydration it is a great shade for fall and winter.

Full Size:  3.8 g @ $13.00

Sample Size: 3.8g (Full Size)

Sample Value: $13.00

Pacifica Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil

Waterproof and water resistant formulas are great for my oily eyelids.  This pencil is waterproof and formulated without any animal ingredients or animal testing.  With hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter, this pencil glides on smith with a great color payout.  I got the sade “fringe” which is a great natural brown which is perfect for regular daily wear.

Full Size: unknown size @ $11.00

Sample Size: 0.026 oz (best guess is about 1/3 size of full size pencil)

Sample Value: about $3.67

Nourish Organic Cream Face Cleanser

This moisturizing cream cleanser gets rid of the day’s impurities without over drying.  The gluten free, fragrance free and alcohol free formula penetrates deep to dissolve dirt, oil, and makeup.  Cucumber soothes skin while watercress delivers a dose of antioxidants to the skin to help protect from free radical damage.

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Brush

I’m loving this brush that came in my bag this month.  It’s dual ended, making it twice as nice.  On one end is a fluffier, all over shadow brush, and on the other is a tiny, more precise  (yet still soft) crease brush.  It’s a great all in one for eye looks.

Value: $6.99

Ipsy Glam Bag: August 2014

Beauty Schooled is the theme in the August Ipsy Glam Bag.  This month’s products came to me in a cute, cylindrical white and orange polka dot pouch.

Absolute New York “You’re the Balm”

This super cute little tin of apple flavored lip balm is fantastic.  The formula of this lip balm is smooth, light and creamy making lips oh-so kissable.  There is a super subtle, barely there tint to add just a hint of color. What I really like is that it isn’t one of those balms that feel awesome for about 5 minutes.  The hydration this balm offers lasts for quite some time, making it really worth it.  These balms some in sets of 2 tins with two flavor options each: green apple and grape or strawberry and bubble gum.  The sets are only $5.99, which is a steal for a balm that does as good of a job as this one does.  Love!

Full Size: 2 Tins @ $5.99

Sample Size: 1 Tin

Sample Value: $2.99

Dr. Brandt Pores No More® Primer

This is a cult favorite primer.  It mattifies and blurs imperfections as well as acts as a base for long lasting makeup.  It also acts as a barrier to prevent your makeup from clogging your pores, erases shine and helps regular oil production.  Sounds like a too good to be true product.  Oh, did I mention it’s sweat resistant?  This is definitely going on my face for my next night out on the town in the North Carolina humidity.

Full size: 1 fl oz @ $45.00

Sample Size: 0.25 fl oz

Sample Value: $11.25

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

Urban Decay is my favorite brand for eye products.  This new mascara is dark and bold with an easy, long wear application.  The brush’s shape makes for an even coat without having to wiggle the brush around and it applies a generous amount of product, so one coat is enough.  Perversion is both lengthening and volumizing leaving you with thick, full, ready for a night out lashes.

Full Size: 0.4 fl oz @ $22.00

Sample Size: 0.1 fl oz

Sample Value: $5.50

Costal Scents Forever Blush

I got to sample two of the Costal Scents Forever Blushes, which are long wear, “perfectly pigmented” blushes.  They come in 18 different shades that all offer a rush of color for a nice, flushed look.

Full Size: 10g @ $7.95

Sample Size: 2.5 g

Sample Value: $1.99

Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil

This semi matte eyeliner is a smudgeable, sensual black that goes on soft and easy.  It’s safe enough for use on the inner lid, but I’ve seen reviews that this might be a little too smudgeable to wear on the lower lash line.  I’d imagine that it would be great for a smokey eye look.  It comes in a variety of colors that would make fun smokey looks for fall.

Full Size: No info.  I’d guess about 0.06 oz @ $18

Sample Size: 0.02 oz

Sample Value: about $6.00

Total Bag Value: $27.73

As usual, the value of the Ipsy Glam Bag far exceeds what I paid for it.  The subscriptions are $10.75 a month (which includes shipping) and have fun little zipper pouches full of exciting brands to try tucked inside every month.  If you’e interested in signing up, head over to the site and see what the glam bag is all about.

Ipsy Glam Bag: July 2014

JulyIpsyTitleThis month’s Ipsy Glam Bag is themed “Sensationally Sunkissed” and contains products great for wearing out in the sun.  Many contain SPF making sure you’re ready to be kissed by the summer sun.  Let’s see what’s in store for my Glam Bag this month.

Ipsy July 1

wHet Nail Polish

This is a new brand of nail polish to me. The packaging cleverly defines the name (whet: to stimulate curiosity, appetite and desire) and the colors each have interesting names, all with their definitions explained.  The bright shade of blue that I got in my glam bag is call facetious  (playfully jocular, humorous).  The formula of wHet nail polishes are 3 free (free of formaldehyde, toluene, dpd (dibutyle phthalate) ), super shiny and chip resistant (or so the description says) and the formula is not tested on animals.

Full Size: 25ml/0.5 fl oz @ $15.00

Sample Size: 10ml

Sample Value: $6.00

Pixi Beauty Tinted Brilliance Balm

This Pixi lip balm contains moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter, nourishing vitamins A & E and rose extract to repair your lips while giving a light wash of color.  The fun part about this product is each shade is formulated to react to the pH level of your lips, meaning the shade and intensity will vary person to person.  I’ve been applying this like crazy.  I love the slightly minty taste to it as well.  The shade in my Glam Bag is Unique Pink.

Full Size: 3g @ $14.00

Sample Size: 1.8 g

Sample Value: $8.40

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8

A nice tanning oil that hydrates the skin leaving it soft and bikini ready.  It’s a pretty typical tanning oil, so there isn’t a whole lot to say except it feels good and gives you a small SPF boost.  Smells like summer, too.

Full Size: 8oz @ $11.99

Sample Size: 1 oz

Sample Value: $1.50

July Ipsy 4

Befine Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15

Befine is a company that used food to create their skincare.  This is a lightweight moisturizer that has sun protection built right in.  Rosemary leaf oil helps restore balance, pomegranate helps block free radicals, and rice protein helps heal, making this an effective moisturizer on many levels.  It contains no artificial colors, is not tested on animals, and is suitable for all skin types.

Full Size: 1.7 fl oz/50ml @ $24.00

Sample Size: 1.5 fl oz/ 44ml

Sample Value: $21.12

Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB Cream Shadow

Bare Minerals has put out a line of cream shadows that come in a range of natural shades that come packed with benefits for the skin.  This 5 in 1 cream is said to:

  • Be long wearing
  • Act as a super primer
  • Brighten Eyes
  • Protect with SPF 15
  • Smooth the appearance of fine line

Unfortunately the shade I was sent to try is too dark to really utilize the way I’d like, which is as a primer.  The formula does go on creamy and smooth with a nice finish.  In the right shade, I’d imagine I’d love using this on a regular basis.

Full Size: 0.10 fl oz @ $18.00

Sample Size: 0.03 fl oz

Sample Value: $6.00

Total Glam Bag Value: $43.02

The Ipsy Glam bag has always had a great value to it.  You pay $10.75 (which includes shipping) to get the monthly bag and the value of its contents always seems to be significantly more than what you pay.  It’s an excellent and fun way to try out new products.  If you’re interested in getting an Ipsy Glam Bag subscription for yourself, head over to the Ipsy website and sign up.

Ipsy Glam Bag: May 2014

Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask

Hair masks are one of my favorite ways to condition in the shower.  This mask has Argan Oil to nourish and hydrate the hair while Keravis Protein increases hair’s elasticity and strength.  This mask repairs and heals hair while making it feel soft and smooth.  I let this mask sit in my hair for 3-5 minutes after I shampoo, rinse, then style like normal.

Full Size(s): 500ml @ $40.00 and 60ml @ $12.00

Sample Size: 60 ml

Sample Value: $12.00

Pacifica Mineral Eyeshadow Duo

Pacifica eyeshadows are infused with coconut to deliver bold and long lasting colors without harsh ingredients and chemicals.  This duo contains the shades celestial and opal and are both beautiful shades that are perfect for the upcoming summer season.

Duo Value: $10

Derma E Microdermabrasion Scrub

This exfoliating scrub buffs away dead skin cells while reducing the look of fine lines and acne scarring.  The unique  crystal blend containing dead sea salt and volcanic sand help rid the skin of access oils as well.  As with all products by this brand, this scrub is  100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, glycol-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.

Full Size: 2 oz @ $29.25

Hey Honey “Take It Off” Exfoliating Honey Peel-Off Mask

Apparently exfoliation is a theme this month.  This is a gel mask that you apply, let dry and peel off.  Peel off masks are always a fun way to treat yourself, as it can be very gratifying to physically peel away the gunk on your skin.  Alpha Hydroxy acids exfoliate while honey soothes and nourishes the skin, leaving your skin clean, bright and smooth.

Ipsy Glam Bag- December 2013

Jessie’s Girl Holiday Frosted Gumdrop Nailpolish

You can’t tell by the picture, but I got the shade “Sugar Plum Fairy,” which is a bright purple with some silver mixed in.  The Frosted Gum Drops line is a texturized nail polish, so the directions suggest definitely no top coat and suggest no base coat as well.  I’m not sure how I feel about not using a base coat with such a dark color, but leaving the topcoat off will give a sort of sand-like effect.

Available on the Jessie’s Girl Website: $3.99

J. Cat Beauty Big Lip Pencil

This bright red lip pencil does double duty as a lip liner and a moisturizing lip color.  While the color is not my style (“Red Rose”), I now officially have a  red lip product to add to my collection.  The color payout is strong, and the formula is quite hydrating, but the color rubs off easily leaving the potential for a smudgy mess.

J. Cat Beauty Big Lip Pencil: $3.99

Mirabella Eye Blender Brush

Every so often Ipsy sends a makeup brush in their Glam Bag.  This one has a surprising weight to it, making it a hefty eye blending brush. It’s a little heavy for my taste, but the bristles are soft and the application is smooth thanks to the tapered dome shape.

Mirabella Eye Blender Brush: $27

Be A Bombshell: The One Stick

The One Stick works just as the name suggests: One stick that can do everything.  This product is meant for use on eyes, lips, and face.  The product is smooth, but the application is a tad uneven (in my opinion).  I have the shade “Girl Crush” which is a light pink with some golden sparkle in it.  The color doesn’t work for me to be a blush, but I tried using it as a highlighter on top of my blush and it works nicely with a tad of blending.  I have not tried it as a lip product yet, as I tend to find these multi-pupose sticks dry my lips out.

Be a Bombshell (The One Stick): $16

Pop Beauty Eye Shadow Trio

This is the only non-full size product in this month’s bag.  The trip is a sampling of 3 of the 10 shadows in the “Bright Up Your Life” palette in “Smokin’ Hot.”   I ended up with a light grey/silver, a dark grey and a black.  I was not impressed with the shadow’s color payout, but I swatched with the applicator that came with the trio, so it could be the fault of the applicator.

Pop Beauty (1/3 of the full size) $8.00

Total Value of December’s bag: $59.00

I wasn’t terribly impressed with the products themselves (although I LOVE the bag they came in this month), but the value is still quite impressive.  If you’re interested in getting in on the Ipsy Glam Bag experience, click here and sign yourself up.  For $10 a month you get these fun products sent to your door.
