Popsugar Must Have Box: May 2014

I decided to treat myself a little bit over the summer since Erik is going to be gone, and I went and snagged a subscription to the Popsugar Must Have box.  While it is a slightly more expensive box ($39.99 per month) the products that come in it are full size and far exceed what you pay for it.  One of the things I love about this box is rather than it being themed toward one particular type of product, this box takes products from all different genres (home, beauty, food, fitness, etc) and Popsugar decides what the “must haves” in each category are.  I was so excited to receive my first box.  As always, there is a little card on the inside with information on each product.  These boxes also come with a note from the Popsugar editor in Chief, Lisa Sugar.  This is what Lisa had to say about the May box:

Summer is fast approaching, and we’ve got all the goodies you’ll need for your best season yet.  This box will give you a head start on feeling rested and energized for your upcoming activities and weekend getaways.  Get bikini-season ready with these food and fitness must haves.  To look and smell like paradise, try out these beauty products to unleash your inter sun goddess.  Finally, after a long summer day, sleep soundly with this eye mask to recharge for your next adventure.

Here’s what I found  inside:

eye mask

Kerry Cassill Eye Mask

This is a really light and super soft cotton eye mask with a print on it that was exclusively made for Popsugar subscribers.  It’s a nice cosy little mask which will help keep the light out, which is great since the sun likes to shine though the window bright and early on days I’m trying to catch a few extra Zzzzs.  I haven’t had a sleep mask in so long, and with having to sleep alone all summer, it will be a nice treat.

Zing Anything Citrus Zinger

I didn’t really need another water bottle to add to my collection, however this one is a little different.  In the bottom of this bottle is a citrus juicer.  Press half of your desired citrus fruit into the juicer and it will infuse with your bottle of water to give it a little extra refreshing power.  This will be a fun way to change up drinking regular water all day.

Hi I'm SkinnyIMG_4946

Hi I’m Skinny Sticks Multi-Grain Sweet Onion

The food must have of the month is a diet friendly, crunchy treat.  I guess Popsugar feels that we should be able to snack and still look good in out swimsuits 🙂  These little sticks are amazingly delicious.  They have 40% less fat than potato chips, have 15g whole grains in each serving and are only 120 calories per serving, which is 34 sticks!  For my Weight Watchers readers, they’re 3 Points Plus.  Fantastic!!

Tone It Up One Day Fat Blast

Popsugar’s fitness must have is a new workout DVD.  Heck Yes!  I have heard of the Tone It Up girls but have never participated in any of their workouts or programs, and now I have a dvd with two different 30 minute fat blasting workouts on it.  The first workout is an interval based workout to max out your heart rate and tone up all over, and the second workout is geared towards your abs and butt (exactly what I need!).  I’m really excited to clear away the furniture and give both of these a try.  The Tone It Up brand has a great reputation and this is my chance to find out why.

OCC Nail PolishIMG_4941

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pool Boy Nail Lacquer

When I think of OCC Cosmetics I usually think of those super pigmented lip tars.  Imagine my surprise when I found a nail polish by this brand in my box.  Now, I know the last thing I need is year another nail polish, but this got me really excited for two reasons.  1) I love trying out new brands and formulas of nail polish so I can find what works best with my chip prone nails, and 2) the shade “Pool Boy” is an amazing Tar Heels blue (UNC’s color) which is exactly what I have needed to find for my collection since I’ve been in Chapel hill.  The color payout is great and the dry time was nice and quick.  This could be the start of a new awesome relationship with a nail polish brand.

Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser

This perfume smells just like a day at the beach, which is exactly what Smell Bent (which I’ve never heard of but think is a very clever name) was going for.  With notes of jasmine, coconut, aloe, light breeze and musk, this really does smell like the ideal summer day.  While the floral notes hit a little hard at first, after a minute or two this just leaves me smelling like everything summer and makes me feel like summer.  When I tried this after I opened it, my entire makeup look ended up being a bronzed beach babe look because I was feeling so inspired by this perfume.  It is absolutely wonderful.  Thank you Popsugar for the perfect summer scent!

Total Box Value: $115!

I am quite pleased with this box.  The Popsugar Must Have Box seems like it would be an amazing way to get my hands on products that I wouldn’t necessarily think to treat myself to.  What’s really nice is all of the products that come in here are full size.  If this is the type of stuff you’re interested in, this box subscription could very well be for you.  You can subscribe to the box on a monthly basis or buy 3, 6, or 12 month subscriptions which end up saving you some money.  If you’re looking for a special and unique gift for a lovely woman in your life, this box would definitely be the way to go.  I know a gift subscription will be on my wish list for a long time.  I enjoy the monthly treats that my subscription boxes are, but the Popsugar box really does feel like a luxe gift to yourself.  Click here to head over to the Must Have Box site and get yourself (or someone special) a treat too!
