Ipsy Glam Bag: January 2014

Each month Ipsy sends a cute little zipper pouch filled with goodies for the beauty addict.  Below is what I found in my first Glam Bag of 2014

MicaBeauty Tinted Lip Balm

This tinted lip balm is a staining lip balm, meaning the color stains your lips so it lasts longer than a normal lip color would.  I’d say it’s maybe a 6.5 on my scale (my very picky scale) of how moisturizing it actually is

Full Size (.14oz/4g): $30

Sample size: There’s no label.. my guess is full size, but even at half that’s $15 worth.

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow Creamy Eye Pencil

I’ve been itching to get my hands on a highlight-like eye liner product to use on my water line.  Seeing how I’m in a Project Pan and can’t go out and purchase one, this happened to work out nicely for me.  You can barely see the swatch, but it’s a beautiful shimmery pinky beige that glides on smoothly.  I haven’t actually tried it on my eye lid, just my waterline.

Full Size (1.5g/ 0.05oz): $14.99

Sample Size: 0.7g/ 0.02 oz

Sample Value: $7.00

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask

Cute name, but it sounds like it’s an honest name too.  This mask contains avocado, almond and argan oils, and strengthening keratin proteins to revitalize, replenish, and yes, repair your tired, dry hair.  The consistency is smooth and thick.  The smell is nothing amazing; kind of reminds me of generic hair salon smell, but if it works well, that’s not the end of the world.

Full Size (250ml): $26.00

Sample Size: 1 fl oz/ 29.57 ml

Sample Value: $3.08

Proactiv Mark Fading Pads

As someone who has very troublesome skin, this was a welcome discovery in my Glam Bag.  The wipes are formulated with 2% Salicylic Acid, making them acne fighting champs.  I’m not sure if by “mark fading” they mean acne scarring or actual acne, but either way my skin could definitely take advantage of this.  Of course the directions think that you have the other parts of the Proactiv treatment, so I decided to use one instead of my retinol night cream last night.  You don’t want to over treat the skin, and Salicylic acid can be pretty darn strong.

Value unknown, as the customer service person online would not assist me with finding the prices of individual items.. Lame sauce and very poor customer service.  However I at least know there are 15 pads to a box, which is a week’s worth.

Nourish Organic Lightweight Moisturizing Face Lotion

This face lotion contains argan oil and rosewater, but oddly it smells a tad citrus to me (not a bad thing, just an observation).  Over time, this lotion is said to make skin look younger and improve elasticity. The formulation is on the watery side, which makes it absorb quickly and it definitely leaves no greasiness behind.

Full Size (1.7oz/50 ml): $21.99

Sample Size: 0.5oz

Sample Value: $6.47

Total Bag Value: $29.95 (that’s WITHOUT the Proactiv wipes being counted at all.
