An Energizing, Nutritional Treat from Mamma Chia

Diva and the Divine's

Have you heard of Mamma Chia?  Maybe you’ve seen it on shelves (it’s the glass bottle that looks like it’s filled with little pink jelly seed type things) and walked on by.  Well, now they have something new on the shelves that is definitely worth taking a look at.

Mamma Chia reached out to me and offered to let me try some of their new product that hit shelves in late 2014. How awesome of them!  I was super stoked when my box arrived and couldn’t wait to see what was inside.

Meet the Mamma Chia Clean Energy Drinks

If you haven’t heard of the Chia seed, you might not know all of the awesomeness that this little seed contains.  Chia is the strongest source of plant based omega-3s.  They’re also a great source of fiber, complete protein, and antioxidants.  Many people buy these little guys in bags to toss in yogurt or smoothies to help get the awesome boost that the chia seed offers.  Mamma Chia has taken those little power houses and put them in beverages: first, the original vitality beverages, and now, their new energy beverage.

The energy beverage comes in four flavors: Grape Power, Blackberry Blast, Raspberry Razz, and my personal favorite, Cherry Charge.

My favorite part about these new beverages is, of course, the energizing part.  Mamma Chia mixed the magical chia seed with guayusa.

Guayusa has been part of the Amazonian culture for more than 2,000 years, treasured for its unique balance of caffeine, antioxidants and vitamins, along with its energizing effects. It is found in the leaves of the holly tree native to the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador. Guayusa provides a smooth, clean caffeine that delivers balanced and sustained energy without the jitters and crashes typically associated with coffee, energy drinks or other sources of caffeine.

So, we have an all natural source of caffeine, that offers as much of a boost as 1 cup of coffee, combined with antioxidants, protein, and fiber, all wrapped up in this one delicious beverage.  Can you tell I loved them?  They make a great mid day pick me up when you’re hitting that 3pm slump, or they’re an energizing way to start your day.  I used them to get me through the days of packing up our apartment in December.

Let me give you the highlights:

  • More than an entire day’s worth of Omega-3s (2500mg)
  • 25% of your daily fiber requirement (6 g)
  • 4 g complete protein
  • 90 mg of natural caffeine
  • Calcium, antioxidants, and valuable minerals
  • 120 calories (3 Points Plus) per bottle
  • Gluten free, non GMO certified, vegan, kosher, and USDA certified organic

These tasty, healthy treats retail for $2.99 per bottle and can be found in select retailers including Target, Whole Foods, and Safeway.

I think they are definitely worth giving a try. They aren’t something that is inexpensive enough to keep on hand for daily use like ground coffee, but they’re a great treat every so often.
