Birchbox: March 2014

Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion

My first thought when seeing (and touching and smelling) this lotion is that it belongs in a really fancy 5 star hotel, which makes sense since this brand does just that.  It can be found in exclusive hotels and spas all over the world.  The consistency is a tad thicker than regular lotion, but not quite a body cream.  With ingredients like red tea, milk thistle, and grape seed for antioxidants and natural hydration from glycerin and honey, this lotion seems like it will leave me feeling a little bit luxe, without an outrageous price tag.  Added bonus: this company is eco friendly and strives to keep its carbon footprint small.

Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper

This serum is geared toward curly/wavy hair types.  My hair is a “kind of wavy if you let it air dry but mostly straight” type, so we’ll see if this product does anything special for me.  Curl Keeper is a water based so there is no sticky residue, and it dries soft so curls and waves don’t have that crunchy, “i just got loaded down with a bunch of styling products so I’d stay in control” type look and feel.  It also says that Curl Keeper’s frizz taming properties with restart with the addition of a little bit of water to dry hair.  That means 2nd day hair will be just as soft and in control as day 1.

theBalm Cosmetics “How ‘Bout Them Apples?”

The sample of this palette contained one of the 6 shades offered of this lip and cheek creme.  The product has a slightly wet feel which makes it really easy to blend, and it’s long wearing so there should be little need to reapply.  Apply this to the apples of your cheeks (get it? Like the name of the palette? ha..ha..) You can use a lip brush for a precise application or simply use your finger to get a general flush.  The different shades in the palette offer shades to fit whatever mood you’re in.  The colors included are Pie, Carmel, Cider, Cobbler, Crisp, and Candy.  Sound delicious

Full Size: 6 different colors in 1 palette @ $32.00

Sample size: a sampling of one shade (I’m going with 1/2 of a full size color)

Sample Value: $2.67

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Night Cream

Multitasking at its best, this night cream strives to get a few jobs done for you while catching your zzz’s.  The herbal blend of 8 different herbs and flowers are full of antioxidants and blended with other botanicals to keep skin nourished and looking its best.  There are also ingredients that are supposed to reduce skin discoloration, increase oxygen levels, and reduce the look of dull, dry skin (well, since it’s a moisturizer I’d hope that last one was true..).  This cream also works to fight off fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep.  I wish I was this good at multitasking..  The cream has a slightly thinner consistency than I would have expected, which is fine as it’s absorption happens really quickly, and there is s slightly floral perfumey smell to it.  Almost too floral for my taste, but my skin feels really nice after application.

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Eye Cream

This is from the same line as the night cream I just mentioned and therefore the ingredients and purpose is quite similar.  The herbal blend in the eye cream strives to refresh and rejuvenate, soothe, reduce puffiness and brighten up your dark circles.

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Cherry Tango

I love Birchbox extras like this.  I am already a huge fan of the Ghirardelli brand, and this piece of chocolate is no exception.  The cherry bits in this dark chocolate just take it to the next level of awesome for me.  If I see this in the grocery store it will be going in my cart.  Absolutely delightful…and I don’t feel too guilty about it either because of the dark chocolate 😉

Full Size: 1 bag with about 16 pieces @ $4.25
