Trader Joe’s Favorites

TraderJoes FavesTrader Joe’s, in my opinion, is a very magical place.  While it is simply a grocery store, the quality, prices, customer service, and variety are all top of the line.  Many people rave about the products they find at Trader Joe’s, and I am no different.  I have never picked up something from TJ’s that I didn’t like.  They are pros when it comes to seasonal offerings too.  Bottom line: I love me some Trader Joe’s.

I know that everyone has their own go to favorites, but if you’re like me, you’re always looking for something new to be your next Trader Joe’s love, so here are a few of the products from there that I adore and purchase regularly.

DSC02960Spices– What I love about the spices and seasoning at TJ’s is you get good quality and ample quantity for an amazing value.  This was most noticeable when I picked up pumpkin pie spice during their famous pumpkin season.  At the regular grocery store, a bottle of pumpkin pie spice can set you back $5 or $6 for a regular sized spice bottle.  At TJs, I got a generous sized bottle (like the cinnamon shown above) for $1.99.  All of their spices, seasonings, and flavorings (like vanilla extract) are priced amazingly and taste great.

Fresh Spinach– Fresh baby spinach for $1.99 a bag!  Great price.  I use spinach in a lot of cooking, and TJ’s makes its a bit more affordable. It’s always so fresh.  There’s simply no reason for me to get it anywhere else.

Rainbow Macarons– Probably one of my all time favorite finds at Trader Joe’s.  These are Point Plus friendly (1 each or 13 PPV for the entire box…yeah, I checked), budget friendly (compared to getting macarons in a bakery), and for frozen, absolutely delicious.  6 flavors, 12 cookies, all amazing. $4.99 (I think. It might be $5.99 but they were all out today for me to double check) for a dozen cookies.  If you haven’t tried them, then you need to!

Cereal Bars– The price is right on these babies.  For only $1.99 you get a box of 6 nutri-grain style cereal bars, filled with fruity goodness.  With flavors like strawberry, fig, blueberry, and even pumpkin (seasonally), these are a great option for a snack or light breakfast.  The low fat ones are only 3 Points Plus

Vanilla Meringues– These are amazing! 1 ppv for 2, and 3 ppv for 4.  Talk about a Weight Watchers friendly cookie!  They’re light, sweet, and really delicious.  My husband and I have gone through tubs of these, and if they’re in stock, they go in my cart every time.

Stuffed Peppers– One of my pre-made dinners of choice.  The stuffed peppers are in the refrigerated section alongside the other pre done heat-and-eat meals.  Full of flavor and healthy ingredients (rice, turkey, etc) these make an amazing (and quick) meal.

Chocolate Chip Oat Bars- Is it dessert or a snack bar? I don’t know, but with 5g fiber and only 3 PPV, does it really matter?  Microwave it for an extra decadent feeling treat.

Low Carb Tortillas– At only 1 Point Plus per tortilla, these are definitely a WW friendly way to have a wrap.

Now, my list could go on and on (I’ll probably end up with another TJ’s post or 2 at some point), but for now, these are a few of the items that always find their way into my shopping cart.  I know I barely touched on all of the chocolate and dessert type goodies that TJ’s has to offer, and I haven’t even tried the cookie butter (I know, I know..horrible), but I’m trying to limit my dietary sabotage when I go to this store.  Everything is so good that if it all came home with me, I’d be eating for 3 days non-stop.  Everything in moderation..even Trader Joe’s goodies.

What are your favorite items from Trader Joe’s? I’m always looking for new foods to put in my shopping cart 🙂

Major bummer! I definitely lucked out and have been pretty close to them. I know your struggle is one that many people face. Hopefully they’ll keep opening more.

The virtues of Trader Joes (vs Whole Foods) there is one north of Lynchburg (1 hour away) so I might stop by and check out these goodies for myself and my son!!
