In the spirit of the weekend, I thought it might be fun to do a little post about going green…and by green I mean St. Patrick’s day. Even though I am not Irish, I still find it fun to dress in a little bit of green to celebrate the occasion.  Whether you want to just add a pop of green to your makeup look, or go all out, I found a few fun things that could help you feel a bit more festive.

Fashion

A green dress can be both professional and festive.  The one above is from Nordstrom. The simple A-line dress is appropriate for the office and for going out with friends. Now that I’m nearing my 30’s, I love a nice, simple dress with a reasonable neckline.  An outfit like this is great to bust out for St. Patty’s day, but will be practical throughout the year as well.

You can’t forget to accessorize.  In my eyes, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just about the green, but it’s also about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.  While as a general rule I am not a fan of yellow gold, I love the idea of gold accessories for this particular occasion.  Wear a fun gold statement necklace, or find a gold belt to put around your waist while wearing that sophisticated a-line dress.  I found this one at Macy’s.

Of course you can always go for the seasonal themed shirts that pop up at Target.  Pair it with your favorite pair of jeans and you’re ready to go for the day.  What I love about the shirt above is the choice of words.  I was always a little bummed that all of the cute St. Patrick’s day clothing always said “Kiss me, I’m Irish” because I am not.  “Kiss me, I’m lucky” works for everyone! The best part: the shirt is only $12.99

Beauty

My favorite way to be festive for St. Patrick’s day is using my makeup collection.  I like to take a green eyeshadow as my primary lid color and pop some gold on the inner corners and deep purple on the outer crease.  When it’s all blended together it’s beautiful and festive.

If green eye shadow isn’t your thing, go for a pop of color with festive eyeliners.  Urban Decay liners are my all time favorite ones.  You can have a simple eye shadow look and then pop some green or gold on there without feeling over the top.

No matter what I am wearing, I almost always have festive nails, no matter what the holiday.  Nail polish is a great way to express the colors of the season or holiday without really running the risk of looking over the top.  Fun nails are one of my favorite things.  Find a green nail polish and pop on a gold accent finger or two and you’ll look festive in no time.
