It’s the middle of summer and Sephora knows that we have vacation on our minds, so they decided to help us out with a little beauty R & R by theming this month’s box as “Beauty Staycation.” Everything in my July box focuses on quick summer beauty fixes that will have me ready to travel or ready to sip iced tea in my recliner at home. My July box makes summer beauty effortless, natural, and oh so glorious. Let’s see what was inside.
First of all, the pink gingham bag just screams summer. It reminds me of a girly picnic table or something. Super cute! The first thing I pulled out was my monthly perfume sample, which sadly was a repeat of one I had gotten before. The perfume samples mean nothing to me (do you like them? ), so I don’t take too much time to worry about whether or not I am thrilled about my sample. As long as the perfume doesn’t count towards my 5 products, we’re okay.
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray ($20): That’s a mouthful for a leave in conditioner! Briogeo packs this product full of good for your hair ingredients like coconut, rose, and argan oils to help tame your summer frizz. Apply to wet hair, focusing on the ends. Blow dry or air dry. I know I let my hair air dry a lot more in the summer, so a product like this is perfect for my daily use.
IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara ($24): Surprise! You can buy IT Cosmetics at Sephora now! I really enjoyed the few products I tried from the brand ages ago, so I was excited to see their mascara in my box. This superhero promises to lengthen and volumize while conditioning your lashes, all in one swipe. Those are quite a few promises for one mascara. The want looks promising, and I’m hoping it’s good at preventing clumps and spider lashes. When it comes to mascara, I’m of the “boosted natural” look camp, rather than all out falsies glam. How do you like your mascara?
Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment ($38): I was thrilled to pull this out of my pretty pink bag. I’ve been dying to try this product since its release, but haven’t been able to justify the purchase just yet. This multitasking mask contains white and black clay, and each one serves it’s own purpose. The black clay acts as a detoxifier while the white clay helps hydrate, so it’s a perfectly balanced skin treatment, which is ideal for me perfectly fickle skin. Mix the product on your face to create a gray shade and let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing off.
Oh, by the way: “intensive wash off treatment” is just another way of saying “mask.” It’s a face mask..
bareMINERALS GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lip Color in Swag ($18): I already have this very product (in the same sample size, in fact) in my collection, but I won’t complain about getting another one. I love this formula because it’s the most comfortable matte liquid lipstick I’ve ever worn. Sadly, because of it’s comfort, it is not a stay-all-day transfer-proof formula, but my lips don’t feel like I’ve spent a week in a desert with no water either, so I guess you have to pick your battles. However, it is decently hydrating, smells like chocolate pudding (yum!), and the shade is perfect for a nude, your lips but better shade.
MILK Makeup Cooling Water ($24): This product is a bit weird and unnecessary, but I understand why it made its way into my July box. In the heat of summer, Chicagoland has been pretty sweltering, and this product delivers cooling hydration to the skin, but it is absorbed quickly and doesn’t leave any oily feeling behind. Compared to my Tony Moly cooling panda bear stick, which feels more waxy in texture, the Milk stick feels a lot more wet. It promises to give your skin an energized look whether you’re on an airplane or just on your couch. While I am glad I have this product to try out, the odds of me ever purchasing the full size are slim to none.
