I can’t believe May is here! There is SO much happening in my life this month, it’s crazy.
- Mister graduates with his MBA (woo hoo!)
- Beach week with MBA friends the week before graduation.
- We move out of North Carolina (again) and head to Chicago.
- Apartment hunting the later half of the month.
- Headed to Florida for a whole month of un interrupted family time with his side of the family.
Somewhere in there I’m going to continue blogging, and maybe even getting a YouTube video or two up in there.
100 Mile Challenge: Success! I nailed that sucker. According to Fitbit, I did 151.44 miles in April. Because I am a skeptic about how accurate having the Fitbit on my wrist actually is, I knew I was going to take whatever number I had and only count 80% of it as logged miles. Turns out that number is still well over my goal at 121.15 miles. Woo Hoo!
Get a haircut: Done! I got it shorter and put layers in. I’m loving how it curls naturally now.
Stick to my blog schedule: Did that too, except for 1 day! That’s 3 posts a week for 4 weeks (plus “Spotlight on Etsy” Saturday posts). I’m hoping to keep that momentum going.
Cook dinner 2 times every week: I didn’t keep track of what days I cooked, but I’m 95% sure I nailed this one too.
Participate in The Reset Girl’s #ListersGottaList Challenge: That happened for all of a week.. Luckily, Cori is continuing to do her listing challenges. While I doubt it’s logical for me to try and do it this month (at least not creatively), I’m sure in June I will be able to. I might even try to sucker my also stationary/paper craft addicted MIL to do it with me, since we’ll be with them for the month. Do you want to get in on the challenge? Lose weight each week: Yeah.. that was a no go. *sigh* Moving on..
No Weigh May: As evidenced by my regular weight loss failures, I am being majorly bogged down by the scale. Last year, I opted to do No Weigh May, and I think I’m bringing that back. I’m going to weigh in today, May 1, for my normal weekly weigh in, then I’m not touching the scale for the rest of the month. There are so many other things that need my focus that it isn’t worth the worry and angst that the scale has been giving me. Instead, I’m going to be focused on what I’m putting in my body and working on my fitness. Screw whatever the scale has to say. Check out my original No Weigh May post for more information.
Be Mindful: That’s it. Simple, right? Between the chaos, parties, moving, and whatever else, there will be plenty of opportunities to let myself mindlessly enjoy every food item put in front of me. I just want to focus on being mindful of what I’m eating. I’ll make smart choice when I can, and I’ll indulge as I please, with the caveat being I have to be enjoying the thing I’m eating. So many times we eat just to eat. We don’t even taste the thing going in our mouths. If I’m treating my body well, eating reasonably most of the time, there is no reason I shouldn’t enjoy a cupcake at an event or meal out with friend. Mindfulness matters.
Another 100 Miles: I did it last month, I’ll do it again. It will make sure I keep the movement going.
Focus on the abs: I haven’t decided how yet, but I want to focus on trimming that tummy with some abdominal work. I did the Teami Blends 30 Day Detox this past month and I loved it. It left me feeling thinner, but clearly I wasn’t focused. This month I want to get my waistline summer ready.
That’s all I’ve got for this month. June is going to be about a lot less chaos and a lot more focus for sure. Right now, it’s all about doing what I can, when I can (which is actually a saying, hashtag (#wycwyc) and now a book by members of my Fitbloggin family. Check it out!).
