Ipsy Glam Bag: July 2014

JulyIpsyTitleThis month’s Ipsy Glam Bag is themed “Sensationally Sunkissed” and contains products great for wearing out in the sun.  Many contain SPF making sure you’re ready to be kissed by the summer sun.  Let’s see what’s in store for my Glam Bag this month.

Ipsy July 1

wHet Nail Polish

This is a new brand of nail polish to me. The packaging cleverly defines the name (whet: to stimulate curiosity, appetite and desire) and the colors each have interesting names, all with their definitions explained.  The bright shade of blue that I got in my glam bag is call facetious  (playfully jocular, humorous).  The formula of wHet nail polishes are 3 free (free of formaldehyde, toluene, dpd (dibutyle phthalate) ), super shiny and chip resistant (or so the description says) and the formula is not tested on animals.

Pixi Beauty Tinted Brilliance Balm

This Pixi lip balm contains moisturizing ingredients like jojoba oil, shea butter, nourishing vitamins A & E and rose extract to repair your lips while giving a light wash of color.  The fun part about this product is each shade is formulated to react to the pH level of your lips, meaning the shade and intensity will vary person to person.  I’ve been applying this like crazy.  I love the slightly minty taste to it as well.  The shade in my Glam Bag is Unique Pink.

Full Size: 3g @ $14.00

Sample Size: 1.8 g

Sample Value: $8.40

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8

A nice tanning oil that hydrates the skin leaving it soft and bikini ready.  It’s a pretty typical tanning oil, so there isn’t a whole lot to say except it feels good and gives you a small SPF boost.  Smells like summer, too.

Full Size: 8oz @ $11.99

Sample Size: 1 oz

Sample Value: $1.50

July Ipsy 4

Befine Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15

Befine is a company that used food to create their skincare.  This is a lightweight moisturizer that has sun protection built right in.  Rosemary leaf oil helps restore balance, pomegranate helps block free radicals, and rice protein helps heal, making this an effective moisturizer on many levels.  It contains no artificial colors, is not tested on animals, and is suitable for all skin types.

Full Size: 1.7 fl oz/50ml @ $24.00

Sample Size: 1.5 fl oz/ 44ml

Sample Value: $21.12

Bare Minerals 5-in-1 BB Cream Shadow

Bare Minerals has put out a line of cream shadows that come in a range of natural shades that come packed with benefits for the skin.  This 5 in 1 cream is said to:

  • Be long wearing
  • Act as a super primer
  • Brighten Eyes
  • Protect with SPF 15
  • Smooth the appearance of fine line

Unfortunately the shade I was sent to try is too dark to really utilize the way I’d like, which is as a primer.  The formula does go on creamy and smooth with a nice finish.  In the right shade, I’d imagine I’d love using this on a regular basis.

Full Size: 0.10 fl oz @ $18.00

Sample Size: 0.03 fl oz

Sample Value: $6.00

Total Glam Bag Value: $43.02

The Ipsy Glam bag has always had a great value to it.  You pay $10.75 (which includes shipping) to get the monthly bag and the value of its contents always seems to be significantly more than what you pay.  It’s an excellent and fun way to try out new products.  If you’re interested in getting an Ipsy Glam Bag subscription for yourself, head over to the Ipsy website and sign up.

Besides the pixi lipbalm, I wasn’t much of a fan of July’s ipsy. Have you gotten the August one yet? That one is pretty kick ass! Have you also reviewed Vain Pursuits in the past? I’d love to hear what you have to say abt them! They’re similar to ipsy but for skincare, I believe

I just opened my August bag yesterday. I’ve been out of town for two weeks so all of my boxes were here when I got back. I’ve never heard of Vain Pursuits. Definitely going to look into it 🙂
