Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads Review

Exuviance 2

Exuviance is a brand name recognized around the world, and they’re known best for their anti aging products (although they have solutions for many other skin problems as well).  When I found out I got the chance to try one of their awesome under eye treatments, I couldn’t wait.  As many of you know, I struggle with my under eye area even though I’m not even 30.  I have pretty severe dark circles and sometimes puffiness, even if I get a decent amount of sleep.  Throw in a night or two of bad sleep and my eyes are even a bigger mess.  Needless to say, I enjoy trying any and all under eye treatments.

The Exuviance® Intensive Eye Treatment Pads focus more on fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes more so than the dark circle issue, but the first signs of aging typically happen around the eyes.  Being close to 30, it is definitely not a bad idea for me to hop on the anti-aging bandwagon.  With skin being constantly exposed to sunlight and free radicals, the skin around the eyes weakens, resulting in crows feet.  Dehydration (which is common.  Drink more water!) can add to the look of those fine lines.  These pads contain ingredients that combat all of these issues.

Exuviance uses an ingredient that I haven’t heard of before: Lactobionic Acid. I was grateful to find a bit of a description to help me understand this new ingredient a bit more:

NeoStrata’s patented non-irritating “Bionic” Polyhydroxy Acid is derived from milk sugar and suitable for all skin types. Lactobionic Acid helps prevent and reverse the appearance of photoaging, including lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, enlarged pores and roughness. A potent antioxidant used to prevent oxidative damage to transplant organs, Lactobionic Acid protects the skin against photoaging by inhibiting the MMP enzymes that degrade the skin’s structure and strength. A natural humectant, it binds water to create a moisturizing barrier on skin, providing softness and a velvety smoothness.

*NeoStrata is the company that Exuviance is under.

Cool, huh?  In addition to the super sounding Lactobionic acid, the eye pads contain vitamins A, C, and E to provide a strong anti aging product.

How to Use

  • Cleanse area and dry skin thoroughly
  • Place one pad under each eye. Smooth pad onto skin.
  • Relax and leave pads on for 10-30 minutes; However long you feel is appropriate.
  • Remove pads and discard (do not reuse them)
  • Pat the under eye area to help extra solution absorb into skin

That’s it!  It’s a super easy product to use.

My Experience

When I put these pads on, the first thing I noticed is they feel a little cold.  It is always so refreshing to feel a cool product underneath my eyes.  I imagine that you could take this sensation one step further by putting the pads in the refrigerator for a few minutes before use.  Anyway, after application and smoothing them down, I found that the pads stay put, so I could go about my business of cleaning, reading, blogging , or laying in bed enjoying a little relaxation, without having to worry about them falling off.  It’s a small detail, but it is important for me to know using this product doesn’t mean I have to stop whatever else I’m doing.

After I removed the pads, I found that the skin under my eyes did feel a little bit firmer and tighter, which I’m guessing is a positive sign.  Since I don’t have any really visible fine lines to speak of (yet), I can’t vouch for the pad’s effectiveness on ridding the eye area of fine lines, but I can tell you the skin was left hydrated and feeling pretty amazing.

The Exuviance Intensive Eye Treatment Pads come in pre-packaged pouches, each with 2 pads (one for each eye) inside.  Each box comes with 12 packets and costs $48. Suggested usage is twice a week, so one box would last you 6 weeks. Head to the Exuviance website to get your hand on these anti-aging wonders. The eye pads are dermatologist and allergy tested, fragrance-free, paba-free, and suitable for all skin types.
