You CAN Eat Peanut Butter and Lose Weight! | Healthy Eating All The Time and Go Bars

Peanut butter is something that I have loved all my life, but let’s be honest when you’re on a diet and trying to lose weight peanut butter is basically one of the first things to go. At least this is the case for me. I honestly don’t remember the last time I had a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich or didn’t eat peanut butter without mourning how many Weight Watchers points and calories the small 2 tbsp serving ended up being. I pretty much resigned myself to a life without peanut butter unless it was powdered PB (While it gets the job done, it in no way compares to the real deal). Sad day.

You guys all know I love my bars. Quest Bars, No Cow Bars, Dive Bars, and everything in between. Especially when I’m pressed for time, there is something wonderful about having my nutrients all packed into one little portable bar. As per usual, when I discover new brands of bars, I have to give them a try. I’ve seen this brand on Instagram for quite some time now, with many Weight Watchers and healthy lifestyle accounts posting photo after photo, raving about this delicious bar. I finally decided I had to give them a try.

I ended up with the complete Healthy Eating All The Time and Go (which I will from this point forward call HEAT bars for the sake of length) collection, both purchased by me and sent to me by the owner of the company.  Once I sat down and calculated the Points for all of the bars, which ranged from 6-8sp and 4-6pp, I opened up the one that seemed to be the most popular (cranberry peanut butter granola) and took a bite.

..and then I died and went to a peanut butter filled Heaven.

I’m not even joking. This bar, which is only 4 PP (I’m currently following the old WW plan), was a delicious mouthful of REAL peanut butter flavor. It was the most delicious bar I had ever bitten into, and I’m not exaggerating.

Wholesome, REAL Ingredients

Let’s talk about the ingredients for just a second. In a world of processed food that contains ingredients that sound anything but natural, the ingredients in HEAT bars are plain and simple: things like oats, natural peanut butter, sunflower seeds, coconut flakes, almonds, honey, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, dried apple, and the occasional 60% cacao chip or whey protein. Clean, whole ingredients that are easy to read and more importantly, are easy on the body. In a world of sugar alcohols and artificial everything, this was a very welcome change.  Read more

Smart Sweets Gummy Bears

Gummy Bears are a classic when it comes to candy. These tiny little guys will bring a smile to your face and joy to your taste buds.  However, for those of us trying to lessen our sugar intake, gummy bears aren’t always something we can enjoy. Until now.

Did you know there is a gummy bear out there that is fruity, chewy, and delightful that contains only 3g of sugar per serving?? It’s true! They’re called Smart Sweets, and they’re most definitely the smarter way to enjoy gummy bears.

What Are Smart Sweets?

Smart Sweets gummy bears offer all of the joys of eating this tasty, fun treat without all of the crazy sugar that gummy bears typically come with. While they aren’t completely sugar-free, they contain a whopping 3g of sugar per bag. While this would normally be alarming, fear not! They don’t contain any sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners either! *happy dance*

Smart Sweets are sweetened with plant-based, non-GMO stevia.  This means that there shouldn’t be any icky side effects in your digestive system because of artificial sweeteners. I mean, have you seen the reviews for Haribo sugar-free gummy bears on Amazon? It’s hilarious to read, but absolutely NOT hilarious to experience. You see, those are sweetened with the sugar alcohol maltitol, which can cause major issues for a lot of people. Thankfully, Smart Sweets has nothing like that in their ingredients list, making them an ideal candy substitute.

Dr Formula’s Nexabiotic Probiotic Supplement

ProbioticProbiotics is is a word we hear quite often when discussing health and wellness.  While I have had an on again/off again relationship with probiotics over the last few years, generally buying a bottle, finishing it, and after not noticing any big advantages, failing to repurchase.  When I was given the chance to try a supplement by Nexabiotic, I decided to give my relationship with probiotics the “on again” status and give it a try.

What are probiotics?

Probiotics are essentially strains of good bacteria that live in our gut to help absorb nutrients, keep the bad bacteria at bay, and generally keep digestion running smoothly.  Things like stress (something we all experience) and age (something no one can avoid) can cause those good bacteria to die off.  Have you ever noticed that when you’re particularly stressed, maybe because of work or travel, your digestion seems to be a tad uncooperative? Apparently those good bacteria don’t respond well to stress either..

Chomps Snack Sticks

chompsMeet Chomps

For people that enjoy their Slim Jims or meaty snack stick type treats, I’ve found a new brand that might spark your interest.  Chomps Snack Sticks are the healthier version of the snack you already know and love.  Chomps are made with 100% Non-GMO Grass-Fed Angus Beef, contain no artificial ingredients (no nitrites, nitrates, MSG, colors, flavors) and are shelf stable for a year with the help of celery juice. Yeah, you read that right: celery juice.

Chomps come in 3 flavors: Original, Hoppin’ Jalapeno, and Crankin’ Cran.  Personally, my favorite was the original flavor, as it’s the one without any spicy kick to it.  I tried the cranberry one thinking it would be safe, but I failed to notice the habanero pepper on the label.  Needless to say, I understand where the “crankin’ ” part of that particular flavor’s name came from.  I gave all of the spicy ones to my dad, who loves food that sets his mouth on fire, and his feedback was quite positive.  They taste delicious (and I agree, at least in terms of the original flavor), and are actually good for you too.

Snack time done right

Now lets take a look at Chomps from a nutritional perspective:

At Home With Madame Chic | Brianna’s Bookshelf

AtHomeChic

Some time ago you might recall my excitement when I shared a book review with you: Lessons from Madame Chic by Jennifer L. Scott.  Well, today I am back again with the same amount of excitement to tell you about Jennifer’s second book: At Home With Madame Chic: Becoming a Connoisseur of Daily Life.  This book takes many of the lessons we learned in the first book and applies them directly to use in the home.  As a woman working on coming into her role as blogger and housewife, the concept of this book excited me greatly, as I want to have a home that is put together, welcoming, and, of course, chic.

The book is divided into only 6 chapters, but each chapter is well headlined and sectioned off to dive in to plenty of helpful information. Read more

Edible Cookie Dough!

Edoughble is a company specializing in cookie dough that is egg free and meant to be eaten raw and not baked. Cookie dough lovers, rejoice. Your time has come!

I’m guessing if you read the title of this post then you know exactly what it’s going to be about.  Today I just want to give a little shoutout the joy of eating raw cookie dough.  Yum!

Now, you might be wondering why, on a blog that frequently mentions diet, healthy choices, and Weight Watchers, would I be mentioning cookie dough? Well, it’s simple really.  Healthy living is a lifestyle. In order to sustain said healthy lifestyle, in my opinion, no foods should be deemed “off limits.”  Have you noticed that once you tell yourself you can’t have something, you pretty much only think about that thing?

This diva loves to talk about things she thinks are divine (hence, part of the reason my blog’s name is what it is), and lets be honest, sticking your finger in the bowl (or tube, or bag) of raw cookie dough is a pretty deliciously decadent feeling thing.  Therefore, I fully endorse a spoonful of cookie dough every so often.  It’s good for the soul 🙂

SLIMQUICK Pure Extra Strength Drink Mix Review

SlimQuick

Before I even start this review, I’m just going to put this out there:

DISCLAIMER: I do not support any sort of “quick fix” diet and weight loss system.  Healthy living and weight loss/maintenance is a lifestyle, not a several week diet.  There is no substitute for eating right and exercising/moving to keep the body healthy.  That being said, I do believe that certain products out there can help aid your weight loss journey by assisting the body as you put forth the effort to watch your diet and activity.

Okay, now that my disclaimer is out of the way, we can get to why I’m here today.  I was given the chance to try out the Slimquick Pure extra strength drink mix, which is a newer addition to the Slimquick family.  If you want the bottom line, I enjoyed this product so much that I reached out to the company saying I wanted to work with them even more, so I am now on their 13 week challenge, which is great, because as you all know, I have some weight that I need to get rid of.  I am so excited to get to try all of their products that are designed just for women.  You’ll get more on the entire Slimquick line later.  For now, lets talk about the drink mix that got me hooked in the first place. Quest Bar Faceoff

QuestTitle

**Please Note: this post is about WW POINTS PLUS, and NOT the new Smart Points, which is what most Weight Watchers are using now. Smart Points post coming soon**

When I started getting really serious about my weight loss and fitness I went on a nutritional mission to get a lot more protein in my diet.  I knew that it would be good for keeping me fuller longer, and it would help out my muscles in the gym, especially since I have CMT and need all the help I can get.  As I looked at protein bar after protein bar I discovered that they all seemed to be geared toward body builder types who required calories with the protein.  On average, the bars I found would range anywhere from 7-10 Points Plus or more!!  For a woman trying to eat a mere 26 Points Plus a day, I thought finding a protein bar that was right for me was impossible.

Then I found Quest Bars! 🙂

Teami Blends 30 Day Detox Review

Green leaves and sun light

As you may recall, about a month ago I started the TeaMi Blends 30 Day Detox.  Happy day to me, I finished it. Overall, the experience was a positive one.  Let’s get into the details.

What is the TeaMi 30 Day Detox?

The TeaMi Blends 30 day detox is a program that runs over a 30 day period (duh..) and consists of two different teas: TeaMi Skinny and TeaMi Colon.

Teami Skinny is a unique blend of all natural ingredients that help boost metabolism and suppress appetite, reduce bloating, increase energy, and aid in the digestion process. You can drink as much as you want, as there is no laxative effect. For the cleanse, I drank this first thing in the morning.  In the bag there is enough for a 1tsp serving every morning.  It might not look like a lot, but in the Teami Infuser, the tea expands to fill the whole thing when it steeps.  It’s pretty cool. The taste is good, but isn’t very strong, which I’m okay with.  I was able to drink it without any additional sweeteners and it was enjoyable.

The ingredients in Teami Skinny are: Yerba Mate, Oolong tea, Jiao Gulam, Lotus leaf, Lime leaf extract, ginger root, and Rhubarb root.
