Another month come and gone and it’s time for my monthly favorites. Every month I curate a list of things that I’ve been using and loving all month long from all different areas of life. This month we have some food and beauty favorites, as well as some media favorites that I was particularly impressed by. Without taking too much time, let’s jump right into my favorites for the month of August.
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Powder: I purchased this powder foundation a few months ago when I was trying to find face products formulated without talc, bismuth oxide, or silicones. This proved to be more difficult than I thought it would be. When I went to replace my old favorite powder foundation (which had talc as the first ingredient…sad day), and this powder was one of only a few options I could find. Since I know and trust the It Cosmetics brand, I decided to give it a try. While it took me a few months to appreciate it, this powder is now one of the only products I use every day.
The coverage is sheer to full, and it does, in fact, build up to a full coverage foundation, which is something I look for to cover the acne issues I have along my jawline. I apply it with my favorite flat powder foundation brush, and in less than a minute, I am out the door. There is SPF 50 build right into the powder, so when I’m out and about I don’t necessarily have to take the extra step to apply a sunscreen. I find that the IT Cosmetics powder lasts a long time, and I don’t just mean in the compact. When I apply it in the morning, I notice there is still a significant amount of product to be removed at the end of the day, whereas with other products seem to melt into the skin and be barely there at the end of the day. While some of the coverage does fade ever so slightly (and reapplication is a breeze), my skin goes all day and into the evening with a coverage that leaves me feeling good about my face. On my more recent videos, people have been complimenting my skin and make up a ton. It’s all this powder, my friends. Quick, easy, and flawless!
Ulta Instaglow Beauty Dry Sheet Mask: When Ulta was having it’s 10x points sale not too long ago, I decided to browse around and try out some different sheet masks. This one caught my eye because I wasn’t exactly sure what a dry sheet mask was and the price was only $3, which is a great price for a random little purchase. It turns out that this mask is a dry fabric sheet that has oils pressed right into the fabric. No fuss, no mess, just an easy to use sheet mask.
The dry sheet mask is infused with shea butter and oils to offer your skin a luxurious hydrating experience. One of my favorite parts of this maks is that they have ear holes cut into both the upper and lower sections so you can actually secure the mask to your face. This makes multitasking while wearing it a breeze because there is no risk of it falling off. I personally think all sheet masks need this feature. Because the mask is dry, it can be used up to 3 times. That’s only $1 per use! After I use it, my skin does feel soft and hydrated, so it gets the job done. This is such a fun random purchase that I will be buying again.
Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt in Pumpkin Pie: I know, I know…pumpkin in August? If you know me, this isn’t really a surprise to you, but hear me out. This yogurt is one of my favorite releases of the season. It’s flavored so well that it makes a tasty Weight Watchers friendly breakfast, snack, or dessert. At only 2 points, it’s a fall favorite that can be enjoyed guilt-free, which is a wonderful thing to find, especially when it comes to seasonal favorites. Since it’s only around for the fall season, I figured I’d share this with you now because knowing it’s out there gives you the extra month to enjoy it. I’ve purchased and eaten at least 5 of them so far. Delicious!
Wholly Guacamole Mini Singles: I’ve been on an avocado kick lately, but I still don’t like the taste of plain old avocado. When I eat avocado toast I often season it with everything bagel seasoning to give it that delicious savory taste. When I saw these at Sam’s Club, I decided to give them a try and now I’m hooked. These single serve packs of guacamole are perfect for managing portion size while getting some of those good, healthy fats into my day. Wholly Guacamole flavored them perfectly, so I don’t even have to add any additional seasoning. They’re 120 calories and 3 Points Plus & 3 Smart Points per pack, and worth every bite. My favorite way to use it is to spread it on toast or use it on a wrap in place of mayo and mustard. Delicious, healthy, and filling!
She Reads Truth Bible: I saw this Bible in Sam’s Club and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. She Reads Truth is a Bible study website for women, so I was intrigued to get my hands on a Bible designed for women, by women. This beautiful Bible has everything you could need and more. Maps, resources, devotionals scattered throughout the entire Bible, indexes by topic (joy, guilt, sex, marriage, sadness, everything you could possibly imagine), and even beautiful word art of key Bible verses at the beginning of every chapter. There is a version of this Bible on Amazon (with a canvas cover rather than the basic cover I have and foiled detail) that’s a little more than what I paid (Sam’s Club’s edition was $20), but it’s still definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a new Bible.
Erin Condren Hardbound Notebook: To go along with the new Bible, I recently started a new journal. Erin Condren has had hardbound notebooks out for quite some time now, but in more recent months they started offering different colors. I bought one with the quote ” Every day is a fresh start” written on the front in rose gold foil and it feels like it’s the perfect notebook to open up and write in every single morning. The EC notebooks feel smooth and look super chic. I have a bunch of them and I use them for everything.
“Dancing Through Life” by Candace Cameron Bure: You probably know Candace from her superstar role on Full House as DJ Tanner. I grew up watching that show, so she’s been on my radar my whole life. In more recent years I learned that Candace is a Christian woman and that she’s also written several books, all of which have topics that I’m interested in. It turns out that Scribd (my favorite book reading/listening app. Use this link for two months free) has all of her books on it. I started with “Dancing Through Life” simply because it was an audiobook option, and I’m a major sucker for autobiographies that are narrated by the author.
“Dancing Through Life” is Candace’s story of being on Dancing With The Stars while sticking to her convictions as a Christian woman. I figured I’d be getting a book that was an insight into the behind the scenes of DWTS, which I love, with some Jesus talk scattered throughout. What I got instead was a legitimate, almost Bible study feeling book evenly mixed with her memories, stories, and the problems she faced throughout her season on the show. Candace does an amazing job of truly getting down to sharing the Word of God in a relatable and real way, using her own personal experiences to bring the Gospel to others, and it’s incredible. As a Christian woman myself, I truly appreciated that this celebrity, who was likely a familiar face in many homes of American Millennials my age, sharing her faith so honestly and freely. Once I finished this book, I immediately started another Candace Cameron Bure book, and I have every intention to read them all.
Those were my favorite things from the past month. Do you have any favorites you want to share? Let me know in the comments below!
