I’ve made it to March and the countdown to heading back to the United States has officially started. 2 weeks! While Japan is full of interesting things and fun beauty and stationary products, I am definitely ready to go home. I know that the sense of routine and normalcy won’t really return right away, as we are moving in with our best friends for 8 weeks, then bouncing between my parents in Chicago and hubby’s parents in Florida until we move in to our new place, which we haven’t secured yet, sometime this summer. Still madness, but at least I can return to some things being more normal.
I am really looking forward to getting myself back on track with diet and exercise. Being in Japan carbo loading on sticky rice and ramen noodles has seriously taken it’s toll on my body. I’m genuinely afraid to step on the scale when I get home.
I know, I know, it’s just a number and this is just a wacky season of life, but for me the gain (it’s inevitable, I’m not even going to try and deny it) feels like a failure, especially since I write about health and weight loss. The positive I get out of this is I will actually have a current weight loss journey to document on here, rather than simply being an after. I don’t know how huge the damage is, but I’m guessing that I am at least 20 lbs away from my official goal weight.
I am still spending just over half the month in Japan, and it will take some extra time to actually get settled in at our new temporary living situation, so my goals for this month focus primarily on getting things set up and ready to really rock things out in April.
On the “getting back on track” front, I want to write my initial post and start getting my mind back on the way I used to eat. I know I have several products waiting for me at home that I’m sure will help aid me in getting back on track (don’t worry, you’ll hear about them later), which will help motivate me even more because I get to try something new while going back to my old methods. What would you like to see on this topic? Weekly weigh ins? What I’m eating? I’m open to suggestions!
Other goals for March include
- finish 3 books
- Drink more water daily
- Get moving in some way every day (Sometimes it’s just yoga or house walking, but something has to happen)
- Get a pedicure (my poor feet need one)
- Survive the transition home and back to “normal” food
- Write down what I eat every day- I can’t really track Points Plus values here, but I should at least start keeping track of what I’m consuming in general.
- When home, weigh in, accept reality, and start the journey back to goal.
Sounds reasonable, right?
