Hey readers! Long time, no blog post. I’ve been a little MIA here on the blog for the holiday season (but I’ve been very active on my Youtube channel), but the holidays are officially over and it’s time to get back to work. Let’s chat a little bit about 2015 and look ahead to 2016.
2015 was a year of total chaos and change. I’m a believer in change being a good thing and all, but the amount of change that Mister and I went though was a little much. Between the end of 2014 and the end of 2015 we called 7 different places home. That’s right…SEVEN! That’s about 6 too many for my liking. By this time (Jan 1) last year we were on our way to Japan for a 10 week study abroad adventure in a country where we didn’t speak a word of the language. While Mister had classes and things to attend to, I was left in a less than ideal situation. While I was not pleased about it while we were there, now I do look back at our Japan journey fondly, appreciating all of the things I learned about the Japanese way of life.
Pair that with an MBA graduation, a new job for the mister, transitioning into full time housewife and blogger for me, a move across the country with several other short term homes in between, and you have me not handling it all very well. My health (in terms of weight and fitness) took a nosedive and I put on a few too many pounds, which is effecting me in more ways mentally than it is physically. 2015 definitely tested me (some tests I passed..others, not so much), stretched me, and challenged me in new ways. I was so ready for it to be over.
Hello 2016! I’m entering this new year fired up for many reasons. I have forgiven myself for my lack of self discipline last year and am looking ahead with my head and my hopes held high. Knowing that the possibility of a move at all is very small, I’m resting securely in knowing I’ll have more stability in life this year. That will give me the opportunity to take my life back, get my body, mind, and spirit back on track, and have the best year ever. Of course, I have a few specific goals to accompany my hopes for this year.
Get back down to my goal weight/size- I’m not giving this a specific number yet, because I’m going to approach weight loss from an angle that involves me not only losing weight, but building muscle and getting stronger. Therefore, I don’t know if my goal is a specific number or a size or what, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as the process starts to change my body.
Be in a musical- Fact: I have my college degree in musical theater and I haven’t performed on a stage in over 4 years! This is simply unacceptable and it will be changing. Mark my words.
Increase the growth of Diva and the Divine– This year was a significant year of growth for my blog and channel, which makes me so happy, however, I’m still a baby blog. I’m going to work even harder to create winning content for you all both on here and on my channel. Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see here.
Read 25 Books– I’ve said it for the last few years, and I really do mean it: I want to be a reader. Books are a source of inspiration, knowledge, and a way to let my imagination run wild. 25 books is just over 2 books a month. With discipline and a little planning, I’m sure this will be no problem at all.
Learn how to run a home– Even though Mister and I have been married for 2 years now, this year is the first year I can actually establish my routines and methods of housewifing. Because of my husband’s amazing support, I have the ability to not need a 9-5 job, but instead, I am running the home and doing Diva and the Divine. It might sound easy, but most wives out there know, even without children, the housewife role is not an easy one. There is always some errand to run or cleaning to do. That being said, I would love to find the right balance of working on things at home, on the blog, and on myself (gym, etc).
I am so excited to get rolling on all of these things. If you’re subscribed to my channel you know I’ve been posting a TON of goal setting resources like Leonie Dawson‘s new set, 2016 Powersheets, The Daily Greatness Training journal, and so much more. Stay tuned for a complete list of my 2016 Goal Setting Tools.
What are some of your goals for the new year?
